Ivan Vasiliev doing triple cabrioles in slow motion. Awesome!
My latest blog post - which features a Spotify playlist of some of my readers favourite pieces of ballet music. Hope you enjoy!
Someone suggested Musique à Grande Vitesse yesterday when I asked for people’s favourite ballet music. Now I can’t stop listening to it! I definitely need to see Wheeldon’s DGV at some point… This is my favourite “region”, I think.

A lovely clip of Nuñez and Pennefather in Act II of Giselle. The bit at 2:45 where Nuñez cambrés back in developpé devant and then turns to attitude derrière around Pennefather is sublime. And her balances starting at 6:05? So good!
How could I not share this? The perfect balcony scene from Lauren Cuthbertson and Federico Bonelli in the Romeo & Juliet cinema-relay from a couple of weeks ago. I really hope they release this performance on DVD (and soon!) as it was one of the most beautiful and moving things I’ve ever seen. Oh, and even though we were in a cinema 100 miles away from the ROH, this scene got a big round of applause from everyone watching!
Friedemann Vogel as Des Grieux in Manon. His control is amazing!
Here’s a recap of two guest posts I wrote for A Younger Theatre - let me know what you think!
I just can’t get the R&J Balcony scene out of my head! Here’s McRae/Yoshida - I get chills at 4:05 and 6:10 every single time I see it, no matter who the dancers are. MacMillan is a genius.
All about my truly awesome ballet-packed day - a BalletBoyz workshop, Romeo & Juliet with Alina Cojocaru and Johan Kobborg and a Ballet Black performance to round things off!
Kyohei Yoshida Esmeralda Variation
The simply sublime Cojocaru and Kobborg in Ashton’s Voices of Spring.
Such a delightful piece and I love the side cambré lift at around 4 minutes in…
A new blog post on my realisation that performing doesn’t mean just dancing the steps, that there is a while new layer on top that makes dancing so much more. And it’s damn hard to do!
The music from my variation in Pas des Déesses - I love how beastly it is! Just makes me want to dance…
Unfortunately I don’t know the name of the music, just that it was composed by John Field and arranged by John Wilson.
