A last treat before bed - Marianela Nuñez in Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux. Love the triple/quad into fouettes at 1:32. Though why did the filmer have to chop off all of Thiago Soares’ bits excepting a few grand jetés and the cool reverse russian pas de chat jump thing?!

Vasiliev and Alexandrova in Don Quixote - I’m glad I don’t have to do that one-handed lift! Also, the highlights from his variation are insane: the height and speed of his jumps are just unreal…

I’ve been learning lots of new rep recently so I thought I’d share what I’ve been up to!

Darcey Bussell and Jonathan Cope in Prince of the Pagodas: Very excited to hear the news that Darcey will be a judge on Strictly Come Dancing. Even more excited to see Prince of the Pagodas at the Royal Ballet in June though!

Amazing video of Sir Frederick Ashton rehearsing Fonteyn/Nureyev in “Birthday Offering”. I love the use of balances in this segment - almost like Fonteyn is Nureyev’s secure foundation. Can’t wait to see Nuñez and Soares dance it in June!

Here are my rambling (sorry!) thoughts on the Royal Ballet’s recent triple bill. Varying from the classical to the dramatic to the down-right weird it was one of the most memorable triple bills I’ve seen. Did you see it? Let me know what you thought in the comments!

Melissa Hamilton and Dawid Trzensimiech in Giselle Act II PdD at Varna IBC 2010. Worth watching for Hamilton’s insane developpés at 0:50 and 1:20 and Trzensimiech’s ridiculous final jeté at 10:00.

Ivan Vasiliev doing triple cabrioles in slow motion. Awesome!
